Our pot of gold baby, Delilah, is officially one year old! A pot of gold baby is a baby born following a rainbow baby. I often refer to Delilah as my rainbow as well, though. I still experienced many of the same anxieties as I did with my first pregnancy after loss.

The high-risk appointments, the extra monitoring, the worry about making it past the milestone where we lost Teddy, at 22 weeks. Many concerns carried into Delilah’s pregnancy that I had with Nathan’s. But this time around, I had more of a distraction. Nathan was only a few months past one when we found out we were expecting Delilah, and my hands were already full. He kept me on my toes & kept me busy.

Delilah was born on March 5, 2022, via c-section after laboring for 11 hours. She was 10 lbs and 13 oz of love (and wanted to stay in my belly). She’s walking like a pro trying to keep up with her big brother, who turns 3 in a few days. Two babies under three has been a lot, but their smiles have been keeping us going. It’s been a year of giggles, learning to share, snuggles, and power struggles (because, toddlers). It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s all been worthwhile. While we’ve decided Delilah is our last, we’re looking forward to finding new ways to honor Teddy, who we’re forever thankful to for sending us his siblings.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all the beautiful families out there, and I hope everyone has a safe and fun holiday. I’m feeling extra lucky this year for my angel, my rainbow, and my pot of gold.
