We at PALS are heartbroken to see the US Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, the nearly 50-year-old case that declared a constitutional right to abortion. PALS has always been a safe space for all pregnant after loss parents and our hearts go out to our parents who’ve terminated for medical reasons who are grieving harder today in light of this news.

Yesterday’s decision returns the issue of abortion to the states. This means there is no nationwide ban on abortion. While there are roughly 26 states expected to ban all or nearly all abortions as a result of this ruling, abortion is still legal in many other states. It is also still legal to travel to obtain abortion care. If you are a PALS parent impacted by the ruling, and you’re not sure what to do next, please know you can still legally seek this health care in certain states. In the wake of this decision, PALS will also be working to identify organizations and resources for parents who need access to safe and legal abortion care. Organizations like Planned Parenthood and Center for Reproductive Rights already have information about accessing care posted on their webpages and social media sites. You also can visit https://www.abortionfinder.org/ to learn more.
Please remember that PALS is a safe space for all parents. This decision may not affect you, and you may have strong feelings about the subject, but we will not tolerate any shaming or judgmental comments. Again, our hearts go out to all PALS parents who’ve terminated for medical reasons and who are triggered by this news.
