This felt like a big confidence-boosting week for me. Besides the head cold that pretty much knocked me out for my entire week 15, I’ve finally started to feel more human again and I’m enjoying the slight boost of energy that the second trimester is offering.

Despite the frigid weather here in Minnesota, my husband, the pup and I have been getting out for some family walks. Something about the combination of our quiet neighborhood, the cold air and simply moving my body, has been doing wonders for my soul.

Our 20-week anatomy scan has been scheduled and it couldn’t come soon enough. Surprisingly, I don’t feel nervous about it. I just want to get it over with. I should point out that this doesn’t mean that I can go far enough to say that I feel optimistic about it. But over the past few weeks, I’ve been coming to terms with the idea that there’s only so much in my control and that I feel better when I do my best to focus on those things. So I’ve been eating healthy, working on managing my anxiety, getting exercise, and being gentle and kind to myself.
