Pregnancy After Loss Support (PALS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and depends on the many generous volunteers who give of their time to write, moderate, lead in their local communities, and develop programs for our courageous parents. Volunteers are the heart of PALS

App Forum Moderator

Pregnancy After Loss Support (PALS) is seeking a member of the PALS community (currently trying to conceive, pregnant, or parenting after loss) to volunteer 8-10 hours a month as an App Forum Moderator. This person would be responsible for collaborating with a team to maintain the forums in the Pregnancy After Loss App, engaging with members’ posts, posting discussion prompts, and moderating flagged posts. The forum moderators ensure that forum guidelines are followed, keeping the forums a safe and encouraging space for the community. Fill out the volunteer application to be considered. Position Description:

  • Engage with members’ posts, validating their experiences and pointing them to resources as appropriate
  • Post discussion prompts in the forums to engage the community and engage with the comments as community members respond
  • Moderate posts and comments to make sure the forum guidelines are followed and address flagged posts
  • Create new due date groups
  • Work collaboratively with the team to address forum concerns and keep the forums and safe and supportive space
  • Crosspost on PALS Facebook groups to encourage members to download the app and join the forums
  • Other app and engagement-related tasks as we grow
  • Work with the app team on other initiatives

Skills:

  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Empathy for diverse lived experiences
  • Strong integrity as you represent PALS
  • Comfortable with tech and a willingness to learn to use the admin panel for the App

Other Expectations:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Have your own computer with internet
  • Have a smartphone with the Pregnancy After Loss App
  • Complete volunteer training prior to starting the volunteer position
  • Available to volunteer 8-10 hours a month
  • Available to attend bi-monthly team meetings
  • Respond to emails within 24 hours
  • Facebook profile so you can be added to the PALS Team Facebook group and communicate through Facebook Messenger
  • Willingness to work on a team and receive direction from the operations director and executive director

Board of Directors

Pregnancy After Loss Support (PALS) is seeking members of the PALS community (currently trying to conceive, pregnant, or parenting after loss) to volunteer 2-4 hours a month as members of our Board of Directors. At this time, we are seeking applicants with specific interests and experience to support the treasurer and fundraising/development positions. Fill out the volunteer application to be considered. Be sure to include your resume. Applications for this position will be accepted through Thursday, March 31, 2022. This position requires a background check.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to listen, analyze, think strategically and creatively, and work well with people individually and in a group.
  • Ability to consider multiple viewpoints about controversial issues and to communicate PALS perspective effectively with members and stakeholders.
  • Ability to prepare for, attend, and participate in board and committee meetings (including conference calls), ask questions, and take responsibility.
  • Honesty; sensitivity to and tolerance of differing views; a friendly, responsive, and patient approach; community-building skills; and concern for the PALS development.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend and participate in all meetings of the Board of Directors, which meet monthly via Zoom.
  • Be informed about PALS mission, services, policies, and programs.
  • Assist the Board of Directors in carrying out its fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Review agenda and supporting materials prior to board meetings and conference calls.
  • Represent PALS on behalf of the Chair as needed.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the Bylaws.
  • Become familiar with Parliamentary Procedures through Roberts Rules of Order, Newly Revised.
  • Supports fundraisers and helps raise funds for PALS generally.
  • Attend organization-wide events as often as reasonably possible as a representative of the Board.

Bump Day Blogger

Pregnancy After Loss Support (PALS) is seeking a pregnant member from the PALS community to share her story of pregnancy after loss as a Bump Day Blogger. PALS’ Bump Day Bloggers write weekly updates in real time about their current pregnancy. Fill out the volunteer application to be considered. Make sure to attach a pitch and sample blog post. Applications for this position will be accepted on an as needed basis.

Position Expectations:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • A person who has experienced the death of a child at any age, including miscarriage, stillbirth, infant, toddler, school age, or teen loss.
  • A person who is currently in the first trimester of being pregnant after a loss.
  • Willing to write a weekly blog post chronicling your journey of pregnancy after loss.
  • Willing to share your subsequent baby’s birth story within a month of birth.
