OCTOBER IS PREGNANCY, INFANT, AND CHILD LOSS AWARENESS MONTH

In 1988, President Ronald Regan proclaimed October Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day is observed on October 15th each year and includes the International Wave of Light.

In the United States, 1 out of every 4 pregnancies ends in miscarriage and 1 and every 160 pregnancies end in stillbirth. These numbers do not include infant death from preterm labor, diagnosis of life-limiting conditions, or SIDS.

But, the courageous parents at PALS know that these are more than just numbers. These are our babies.

And, because of these precious babies, we will forever have footprints on our hearts.

Pregnancy After Loss Support is honoring Pregnancy, Infant, and Child Loss Awareness Month 2022 with our #BecauseOfYouMyChild campaign. We hope you’ll join us in telling the stories of your babies who died.

Pregnancy, Infant, and Child Loss Awareness Month - We want you to know our babies

WAYS TO PARTICIPATE

  • Share your baby’s story on social media using the #BecauseOfYouMyChild hashtag. Tag @pregnancyafterlosssupport on Instagram, and we may feature your story.

  • Add the #BecauseOfYouMyChild frame to a favorite photo and post it as your Facebook profile image or on your social media feeds.

  • Share “Because of you, my child, I will forever have footprints on my heart,” which inspired this year’s Pregnancy, Infant, and Child Loss Awareness campaign.

  • Download PALS’ “footprints on my heart” graphics to share on social media, your blog, or website.

  • Participate in the International Wave of Light at 7PM local time. Light a candle and keep it lit for one hour, as the wave of light passes throughout the world.

  • Make a donation to Pregnancy After Loss Support (PALS) in memory of your baby who died, and help keep PALS’ services and resources free for moms who are traveling the journey of pregnancy after loss.
